Eulogy for Anne

Published on October 8, 2019

Today is a sad day for Friskis as we have the unfortunate duty to inform you that our volunteer and instructor, Anne Peters, passed away last Sunday afternoon and is no longer with us. Our deepest condolences go out to her family and loved ones.

Truly there was no one more passionate or dedicated to Friskis and its ideals than Anne.

You’re obviously aware of all the amazing Medium and Station sessions she gave, but you might not realize all the tireless work she did for us and our members behind the scenes. Honestly the list is too long for us to enumerate. But quite simply, if you have interacted with Friskis in any way, it was usually Anne who was helping you solving your problem.

We can honestly say that F&S is a much sadder place without her for we have not only lost a beloved membe,r but most importantly we lost a dear friend.

Please feel free to share your memories of Anne in the comments below. For as long as we continue to remember her and all that she did for us… her spirit will endure.

Now if I know Anne, I know that she wouldn’t want us to make a fuss – that we should keep on working for the good of the Association that she so loved. But I’m going to respectfully disagree with her. We are Friskies, we are a family – so I think it’s only fair for us to mourn when we lose such a beloved and essential family member. So please take a moment to remember our dearly departed Anne before we honor her memory by dedicating ourselves to the organization that she loved.

Can’t believe it happened as in our minds we were expecting her to see her again back among us . We were feeling so at ease during her session as if a sister or a friend was there to give us some more energy with entertaining music and challenges. We miss her and we’ll miss her.
Condoleances to Family and friends, never surrender, we’ll never forget this time spent together.

Rest in peace Anne. My condolences to Anne’s family and close friends. I enjoyed my time with her during my brief time in the board. She was a very dedicated and honest person. She was always helpful witb all the questions I had. The Friskis community lost one of its greatest volunteers. She offered the Friskis community a lot of her time and energy. It is very sad that she is no longer with us. Sibylle

Thank you Anne – loved your enthusiasm and choice in music… even the German hardrock songs 🙂 Your sessions made me discover the benefits and joy of doing sports. X.

That is so sad to hear that the Friskis & Svettis Brussel’s biggest “eldsjäl” is not longer with us. For me, she is very much the behind the scene voluntary worker who sent out the new membership card the minute as she got the payment. Quick, reliable and well organised. I also remember the great station sessions on Sundays. Thank you for everything you did for Friskis.

While thinking about the words to write about Anne, one of her favourite songs which she played in her station 75 session is being played in the radio. I found that Anne was such a wonderful teacher. I miss and will miss her a lot.
