Training

We call our unique workout “jympa”, and this is the core activity of Friskis&Svettis. The concept is based on music and the enjoyment of movement.

A workout session

Our sessions are unique in having the instructor in the middle of a circle leading, encouraging and exercising together with the participants. All sessions contain warm up, mobility, strength training, cardio-vascular training, slow down, stretching and relaxation.

A typical session is described below in an intensity curve:

The different workout intensities

The three main workout intensities are:

  • Basic - straightforward and easy with uncomplicated movements.
  • Medium - tougher exercise with gentle movements.
  • Intensive - the toughest intensity where you put your muscles and cardio-vascular system to the test.

We also offer other intensities: Strength Medium, Pulse Medium, Station, Ki-Jympa, Ki-Box, Core and Aerobics. Check out our Indoor Activities for a detailed explanation.

Furthermore, we offer Outdoor training in: Jogging, Nordic Walking (NW) and Cross Training. Nature provides the equipment that is used, such as hills, benches and railings. Check out our Outdoor Activities for a detailed explanation.

All our different forms of exercise on offer have their own distinguishing Friskis&Svettis hallmark, even if they have names that you may recognise from other gyms. Wherever you may exercise and whichever form of exercise you may have chosen, you should always be able to recognise that which is typically Friskis&Svettis.
